Characters: Lily Evans, Dorcas Meadowes, and Kira Fenwick
Setting: An empty classroom on the seventh floor, the night of September 19th
Content: SFW
Summary: Girls' Night~!

By the time Saturday night rolled around, Lily had about had her fill of boys. Say whatever else you wanted about them, but the ones in Lily's life largely tended to be obnoxious and confusing in turns, as evidenced by the pranks of the previous week and her "friend date" with James Potter earlier that day. She was more than ready for some time with her girls and their easy companionship.

Dorcas had said she was handling the food, and Kira always set up their location. That left Lily to bring some entertainment. She brought the record player James had given her and an assortment of records, as she knew her girls would appreciate something to dance to or provide ambiance. In addition, she brought her book of beauty charms because they were fun to play around with, an old Muggle book of sleepover games (which had been current when she was twelve or so and served mostly for amusement now), and some old divination supplies borrowed from a friend. Carrying the stack of supplies in her arms, and already dressed in her pyjamas, Lily headed to the classroom. It was not yet curfew, so she didn't take care to watch out for other students. The girls would soundproof and lock their classroom, and return to their dormitories around breakfast time, and no one would be any the wiser.

Lily reached the usual classroom and knocked three times to signal that she was coming in, in case one or both of her mates had beaten her. Carefully shifting the load of items in her arms, she opened the door and slipped inside.

As soon as she was inside, Lily gasped excitedly. Kira had either transfigured or otherwise done away with most of the desks. In their place was a perfect sleepover world, with a large, open blanket fort, a variety of cushions, fluffy pillows, and thick blankets for their comfort, a few floating candles giving off a light floral scent, and in the middle, a blue flame that floated near the ground and gave off warmth, but stayed neatly contained in a large bowl. Lily set down her things, closed the door with her foot, and headed over to meet her friend. "Kira, love, you've really outdone yourself," Lily declared, greeting her with a warm hug.

Kira had claimed the classroom in advance, showing up earlier enough to ward off any couples that might be in want of a place to snog or individuals desiring to do something along similar lines to that the girls had planned. A girls' night was long overdue, and though it was a great deal smaller and more intimate than the norm, she had been anticipating it. They had plenty to catch up on, both from summer holiday as well as recent events, and certainly Kira wasn't about to miss the bonding time. She was never big on gossip, but it wasn't exactly gossip when it involved her closest mates.

When she made it down to the designated unused classroom on the seventh floor, she promptly stashed her supplies on the floor and shut the door behind her. A simple ward would prevent others from entering from the outside. After prodding around the classroom and discovering she was for the most part satisfied, Kira began transfiguring the larger items within the classroom. She had to make the place more comfortable and conducive for a relaxing environment. The tables became sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, or throw rugs and the chairs were transfigured in to candles. It didn't take much more than a suspension charm to hang the lights where she wanted them, but she didn't light any until establishing her tent. She had seen diagrams of such homemade tents in basic muggle studies textbooks, and while tents were not entirely new to magical society, those that were not charmed to be larger and grander, i.e. magical within, were rare. If that wasn't enough to be foreign to her, Kira desperately wanted to give it a go from scratch.

She quickly found that preparing a tent without magical means was difficult with such a high vaulted ceiling and nothing to throw blankets over. Deciding not to bother with it too much longer, Kira simply suspended them from hooks on the walls and called it a day.

Not too long after the ambiance had been established Lily turned up. Kira, too, had arrived in her pyjamas, though a bit earlier than her counterparts. She didn't mind the strange looks she got from her peers despite that. It was comfortable, and she would have less to carry back come morning. That seemed to work for Kira just fine! When Lily popped in and set her things down, Kira greeted her a proud smile. "You're too kind, Ginger, as usual." Returning the embrace, Kira found herself relieved she was no longer alone. Though not exactly afraid of solitude, she had decided earlier that week being left to herself was proving problematic. For starters, there was that incident in the Gryffindor boys' showers which she still couldn't bring herself to stop thinking about, no thanks to the reminder of some of their classmates. Branching off from that, Kira had already earned the concerns of her brother in the process. If that wasn't enough to keep her mind reeling, the girl had nearly convinced herself to try to talk to Rabastan again for the sake of closure. Fortunately she wasn't left to herself long enough to follow through. Drama was not Kira's cup of tea, and she had no real desire to open up further issues if avoidable. Best to leave the sleeping dog where it laid.

Pulling away from Lily to give her a proper look over, Kira smiled as if remembering something important. "How was your forced 'friend' time with Potter?"

Dorcas was running late as usual. Whenever she stopped by the kitchens she always spent more time there than she intended and tonight seemed to be no exception. The house elves were particularly fond of Dorcas Meadowes and the kindness she always showed them. Her friendship with the house elves did come in handy for such occasions as tonight but Dorcas always found herself feeling a little guilty by grabbing the food and running, so she always stayed a little longer to chat to the house elves.

After getting a variety of snacks, mostly sweets, she had made her way up to the common room to grab her things. She had changed into her pajamas and despite the strange glances walked, with a spring in her step, out the portrait hole heading towards the classroom where she had planned to meet her friends. She found herself rather excited for tonight, it was long overdue and Dorcas found the need to discuss a few things with her friends. Dorcas also was a little anxious to see how Lily's 'not a date' date went.

As she rounded her last corner, making sure to carry the sweets carefully, she rushed towards the classroom door. Shifting the bag of sweets, full of the girls' individual favorites, into her right arm, she knocked three times with her left and waited a moment before opening the door and peaking her head in.

A wide, gleeful smile set on her face as she saw both of her friends had arrived. She moved inside, her eyes glittering at the room Kira had cooked up, and set her bag down. "Kay! Everything looks brilliant." She beamed as she walked over towards her friends to greet them, pulling them in for a group hug. "Sorry I'm late, the house elves got chatting and they have encountered some domestic disputes," she giggled as she pulled away.

Of course Kira would try to modestly diffuse her compliment. Lily laughed and shoved her friend playfully. "Can't quite call me Ginger at the moment, can you, Silver?" she teased, unable to resist the temptation to make a comment on her friend's hair colour. Before she could answer the question about her day, though, the door swung open and Dorcas came in.

Lily happily joined in the group hug, and when it dissipated, she got up and moved over to her pile of stuff. "What sort of domestic disputes? Anything worthy of a house-elf centred soap opera?" Lily wasn't sure if her friends, both of wizarding descent, would understand the joke, but the idea made her laugh all the same. As she talked, she sorted through her things and set up the record player with some appropriate music. Lily was glad she had sent home for her records the day after she got her record player, because Cilla was one of her favourites, but she certainly didn't think about the possible implications of the first track when she selected the record.

Once they all separated from the hug Dorcas noticed Lily moving towards her stuff so she followed her lead. She thought if she got all the snacks out and place them in the center of the room it would be easier than digging through her bag all night. She'd stocked up on each of their favorites, Kira's Yorkshire pudding, Lily's berry cobler and her favorite, chocolate frogs. Dorcas' choice wasn't a elegant as the other desserts but she loved her chocolate frogs and often referred to them as the key to her heart. She'd also managed to coax the house elves into handing over some pumpkin pasties and thanks to her father, she had a bunch of different sweets collected from Diagon Alley.

As Dorcas pulled out her wand to charm the different desserts to float just above the ground level, she stopped and frowned. Soap operas. She'd heard her Aunt mention them when she had stayed with her mother's muggle family but Dorcas had thought it was some sort of game. She looked up at Lily from across the room and gave her a puzzled look. "You know, the usual stuff, who has the better recipe or cooking technique. Although, they are getting a little nasty regarding their sleeping arrangements." She offered, hoping that she had listed the requirements of a 'soap opera'.

Dorcas had managed to organize her sweets perfectly in the center of the room amongst all the blankets, she smiled quite proud of her work and food selection. Her ears perked up as she heard music travel across the room. She grinned and listened to the music. She however, wasn't familiar with this particular artist. Over summer, her cousin had introduced her to a very little selection. She instinctively turned her head quickly to look at Kira as the lyrics registered in her brain and a grin escaped her lips. The lyrics were a little too appropriate.

She moved over to sit in the center of the room, grabbing a chocolate frog before raising an eyebrow at Lily. "So is this just a coincidence or are you trying to tell us something? Have you finally fallen for Potter?"
