A great success with a tad bit of dissapointment. [11 Apr 2004|05:16pm]

THE ICON CONTEST HAS NOW ENDED.

I was a bit dissapointed that not as many people were interested in participating. That really brings down the status in this community, which .. you people are the community, so. I don't know, perhaps it just wasn't the right area for some of you. Perhaps the rest of you were busy. But I would like a little more people-participation. I know what being busy feels like. I barely have a moment to breathe to myself. Yet .. I'm trying to commit time, so I hope that other people will be respectful enough to as well. That's why I made this community. To share interests and likes through social activities.

However, an extreme congradulations toward the two that did participate. Your icons were absolutely fabulous. Now we will have a vote against the two opposing contestants. But before that begins, I will comment honestly with personal opinion on each of the icons.

  1.  - submitted by angelindustrial. The one thing that I enjoy the most about this icon is the blending of colors, and the coordination that they distribute. First, you have the right image of Arwen to match the text, which is always important. It brings out her character and objective. From there, the highlighting and the color usage is magnificent. I also must compliment the shape of the icon. It's very creative and constructive, and gives it a rigid spice. No critiques from me here. Fantastic work.
  2.  - submitted eissirk2. I really happen to like gif icons a lot. There aren't the same thing over and over again, and to make them interesting you really have to find the right sequence. For Araogrn fans, this is a great icon. It encaptures a lot of action, and would be fit for a lot of layouts that people make. It's very compatible. It isn't dull or lacking action, but actually very well thought out. The only critique that I would have for this icon is but one, and extremely minor. But it's only a personal nitch. Looking into playing your icons slower, so that they don't go through so fast .. and maybe only once or twice. Or so that it flows. Like, the end is a bit choppy because it stops one action and goes back. If you're going to repeat, it would be a good idea to have an action that flows at the end into the action at the beginning. Other than that, it's great! Good work, thanks for submitting.

Again, a spectacular thanks to you two. You did a great job. Now it's .. time to vote. This is where I'm going to need that participation I was talking about so that I can decide who wins, because obviously if it were only me deciding it would be a bit biased and .. it'd be kind of a dictatorship, wouldn't it? So .. simply reply to this post by telling which you like best, and your vote will be counted. Please be polite and well-spoken about it.

And that'll about do it for today. The results will be posted soon, and the prizes will be given. By the way, Happy Easter, everyone. ;) Remember, we need participation to make this community work. I'll have another activity lined up for this week. Have a great day, everyone.
