Honestly Ryan could have slapped Riley physically that it wouldn't have hurt more. It took him a long time before he could even move and when he did, he went directly to his room, closing the door gently before grabbing his cello.
All these years, the only things that had been a constant between Riley and his twin was their love for music and the fights and playing before going to apologize was always a good thing as far as he was concerned. He was too angry to think of anything else but blaming Ryan for his choice.
After a while Riley went back to his brother's room and knocked gently on the door and didn't wait for him to answer that he opened it and leaned against the door frame. "You have always been gifted and if someone like Hendry can make it, so can you." he said softly. "It's not unrealistic to think you can play music all your life, you know. You are the best pianist I know." What had hurt the most in what Ryan had said was the last line.
Oh yeah, hurt like a bitch to be told he wasn't really working.
