Ryan said it before he thought of the words, before he thought of his pile of homework and finals coming up and his internship, "I could play with you."
The words were out then, and he sucked in a breath. He hadn't played publicly in years, since they were boys, really, and here it was he'd just done the boneheaded thing of offering himself up to play second best to a bunch of musicians at a school he didn't even attend.
"That is to say," he started, "I could practice with you?" It didn't even make sense to him, but if it meant keeping his brother away from Hendry and making a fool of the bloke in the meantime, he could probably be convinced.
