Colin couldn't help but grin at James' announcement - of course James would never break up with Cambrey, she'd been the only girl he'd ever been willing to put up with for more than shag, and she seemed to bring out a lot of good qualities in him, too. Colin had always known the Potters, and had always known that they all struggled with trust issues - perhaps except maybe their mum - because fame and friendship hardly went hand in hand. The fact that James trusted that she only liked him for him meant more than Colin could ever fully understand, but he certainly understood why James would like the idea so much.
Blushing lightly when Rose was mentioned, "Going well, I like to think," his voice was shallow. "It's hard to see each other with both of us working full time and both getting settled into the flats and things, but I'm hoping things will calm down once classes start. She'll be in the literature department at DU (not that you don't know that) so..." He felt silly talking about her as if James wasn't her family. What could he say that James didn't already know?
