Dippet University Announces New Head of Operations Former French Minister of Magical Education Jacques Perrault Brings Old World Charm To New Post
Minister Perrault stood with University Founders and prominent Wizarding families last night wearing his usual stoic grimmace. A serious man, he was quoted at the press conference as saying "clearly they liked what I did in France and I'm very excited to bring a real sense of educational urgancy to Britain" in lightly accented English.
Of course, Perrault is best known in the UK for his family history - the name was once a dark period in French politics, extending to include tacit support of Tom Riddle's first and second wars. Mr. Perrault and his siblings, however, seem to have bucked the family trend and have all dedicated their lives to public services - Education for Jacques, Philanthropy for his younger sister Marie, and French Muggle Military service for youngest Rene.
A British public that has bristled at DU's subtle hints at 'old fashioned' beliefs might not be too keen on this latest move, however the press office at the more liberal Dumbledore Institute of Higher Education (named of course for Wizarding Kinds' great hero Albus Dumbledore) released an announcement in congratulations.
Perrault's prepared remarks for the occasion can be found in it's entirety below:
My fellow Wizards and Witches, today, we 'ave turned a new page.
I want to begin by expressing my appreciation to the search committee and the University's Board for this expression of confidence in my ability to lead this great University. The process was long and challenging — as it should be — but I learned a great deal and I will put it to use.
What 'as been accomplished here since our founding is nothing short of remarkable.
Every day on this beautiful campus, in this great city of London and the region that surrounds it, throughout the nation and all around the globe the people of Dippet University are making the world a smarter, better, dare I say more magical place.
Our faculty do that through their scholarship, professional contributions and art, and they do it through their teaching and their service.
Our distinguished alumni do it through their career achievements, leadership in key organizations in the private, public and non-profit sectors, and their countless hours of work in their communities.
Our students do it through their ability to balance the rigors of our curricula with deep commitments to engage the world and bring about positive change, a characteristic of our students in which we take great pride.
This is not the time to present an elaborate plan on this institution’s future; but when a new plan is developed, it will be with the full participation of each element of this community.
I will say that today, Dippet University is a strong, influential, and confident institution. We are proud of our past, proud of what we are today, but restless and aware that we have not yet reached the full measure of our potential. In moving forward, we will be true to our mission. We will be a presence on the national stage, providing ideas, insights, and leaders to influence how Britain develops and shares its strength with the world. For my part, I pledge my best effort in healping to lead this university to the next exciting stage of its very bright future.*
