England not dead yet! [20 06 @ 1a] narazaki Despite two losses, we can still advance to the knockout stage of the World Cup. Here's what our tough path but doable path looks like. To get there on goal difference, in addition to the win and two Italy wins: We needs either: - beat Costa Rica by two goals, or - Italy beats Costa Rica by three goals, or - Italy beats Costa Rica 2-0 If Uruguay loses to Italy, their goal difference will be -2 or worse, so they’re out. If we win by two, we will be at 0 while Costa Rica is -1 or worse. If we only win by 1, we are at -1. Costa Rica matches that if they lose to Italy by 2, so it would go to goals scored. We have two, Costa Rica three; add the +1 from theENG-CRC match and we are in even if Italy shuts out CRC, then going to head-to-head (England wins). 11 POST
