Scorpius didn't even want to think about his family's dinner party. He was shoving it out of his thoughts and burying it under the rug made up of other miscellaneous suppressed memories. Or, he wished he had the mental command to do it as he walked in through the open door. But, James could usually provide enough of a distraction to pry his concentration away from his negative mullings. His reflection on Occlumency ended there (for now).
"Ta, Captain Obvious," Scorpius replied by way of greeting, closing the door behind himself with a light nudge from his elbow. Another step in, and he was ready to pull off his coat. James must have had a fire roaring in the hearth because he could feel the snow beginning to melt and dampen his hair.
"Where should I put this?" he asked with a nod to the wrapped giftbox in his hands.
