Remus was highly tempted to say that they were lovers, or perhaps partners. It was so very on the tip of his tongue because he disliked that Alphard could so readily imply it but refused to actually say it - as if not saying it out loud would make any difference about what he and Sirius were. He clenched his jaw a little and let his thumb play with his ring - the one that Sirius had given him, but he opted against saying anything.
It was wrong. There was no doubt about that. But Remus wasn't going to antagonize Alphard simply for the sake of antagonizing him. He could only imagine what Sirius would say in response - probably something very crass about where he liked to stick his cock, but then, it was Sirius' family so Remus would leave it to him to make such statements to them.
"Yes," Remus answered affirmatively, although he was still feeling a bit guarded. He supposed he could have also said that they'd been friends for a long time, but he didn't feel the need to elaborate. He simply wanted Alphard to get to the point.
