Loretta. The old-fashioned name probably wasn't what Molly had called the little, babbling bundle that Percy was holding in his arms, but somehow the name stuck. Two little hands were wrapped around a bottle of milk that was nearly drained. Her eyes were drifting shut, reopening, and then repeating the process. Percy knew it would only be a matter of moments before she succumbed to sleep. Or, so he hoped. If she napped, he could get dinner prepared, her nappies cleaned, and sort everything out for tomorrow.
Looking after a baby was a full-time job in and of itself, but Percy was glad for the distraction it provided. It kept his thoughts off George, for one matter…
Feeling the bottle slide out of Loretta's grip, Percy looked down and smiled. She was sound asleep. He set the bottle aside, stood up, and carried her up the stairs to his room. Her crib flanked his bed. Percy laid her down and activated the incantations that would alert him if she woke up. With that done, he quietly left the room and descended the stairs, returning to the living room to find his cottage-mate was home. His smile might have looked a little weak as he greeted his future sister-in-law. "Hello, Angelina," he said, voice not a whisper, but still low. "I just managed to get Loretta napping. Is all well?
