"I'm not," Scorpius muttered back, clearly upset about it. Maybe it was vain to hope it was his hand James was holding, but he couldn't shake that stupid, narcissistic, and quite depressing hope.
But, if Scorpius had been in a clearer mind, he would have realised it was better not to know. Because what if he really wasn't the person holding James's hand? What would that mean? It could mean so many things.
"No, I already know who I'd want," he mumbled, shaking his head to himself. "If it's real, it's not the way I want it to be, all right?" Fortunately, he had his pillow to shield him from James's poke, but that didn't stop him from retaliating with a poke in James's side.
