Salazar did not suffer stupidity lightly. With the rain beating down outside, chilling the air, he found a practical use for the paper full of despicable prating. What had been the Skeet Beat was now smoldering ashes in the hearth. He did not give much consideration to the fact that it could have belonged to Marlene. If it had belonged to his housemate, he would gladly repay her the sum and provide her with something instructive to read.
As of late, he dearly missed the books Inge would copy for him. Hogwarts, A History lay opened in his lap. He had already read through it once, but Salazar was not satisfied with just one reading. He went back, primarily scanning the passages that explained his relationships with the other -- as they were called by the book and others from the future -- Founders.
Salazar frowned down at the pages. It was a calmer reaction than his first when he'd read the fate that awaited him according to the book. The first time he had read that he would fight with Godric Gryffindor and fly from the school he had always dreamed of creating, he had flung the book out the window. While he had repaired the broken window, and cleaned the mud stains off the cover, Salazar was still tempted to abuse the tome and dismiss its pages as falsehoods.
When someone knocked at the door, Salazar wasted very little time in clapping the book shut and standing up to welcome the distraction. "Helga!" It was with pleasure he saw the little girl standing outside his door. Salazar actually smiled. "Please, come in and dry yourself," he said, stepping back and gesturing her in.
