Re: Kendra/Gellert/Albus Fun
Gellert had to force himself not to smile as Kendra was speaking, as he always did when people put their vulnerabilities so clearly on display. He never would have made such an error himself. To confess one's weaknesses was to invite other, cleverer people to take advantage of them.
"Ariana brought a pie," he commented, choosing a neutral subject to accompany the apparently casual way his hand had found the small of Albus's back -- a gesture that would have seemed innocuous between two men had the circumstances of their relationship not already been known. "I have not yet tried it, myself, and I worry that it shall be devoured sooner rather than later."
At least, no one had yet made any comment to Gellert's knowledge indicating there was anything amiss in the pie. He did enjoy rhubarb, and any opportunity to endear himself to Ariana was not one he tried to miss. It would do well for a slice or two extra to have disappeared by the next morning.
Gellert kept his gaze trained on Kendra, eyes steady and unblinking, smile still set upon his lips. He was beginning to decide at last on the persona he wished to present to her, even if he suspected it was one of which, had he any knowledge of Gellert's motivations, Albus would not approve.
