Being a postman was not, on the whole, a terrible occupation. It was better than cleaning up after swines and manual labour. It also familiarized him with the entire village. He knew where everything was and was learning who belonged where even if he did not have faces to attach to a great deal of the names yet.
Having some knowledge was a small comfort when everyone seemed to know his name and information he didn't want them knowing. This was, perhaps, the largest reason why he agreed to meet this Alecto Carrow. He wanted a face for the name. He wanted to know what kind of wizards from the second millennium found themselves in his House. Or, rather, if he would approve of those who called themselves by his name. Slytherins.
When Salazar pushed through the tavern doors and seated himself at the bar, he also had his small serpent with him. Crowley, as he had named the viper, was curled up in his pocket asleep.
