"Danger is in the eye of the beholder," Severus stated, wondering what prompted him to say such a thing. Of course danger was perceived differently by others, but it was painfully singular when it presented itself, prejudiced against no one. Danger that was perhaps now rearing its head.
"Listening may be detrimental in the long run. Mental discipline is a great ally when you use it to your advantage." Surely it wasn't easy for others to take up the mental task of closing themselves off as Severus had, but something about Simon's words reminded him of his own past, or his possible future, if he'd let the world around him take over.
Quickly glancing down beside him, he was tempted to charm the parcel back to normal size and again thought about asking for his payment and leaving, but still something held him still. Dark eyes returned to watching Simon, narrowing as he tried to reason out what was going on through his mind.
