(come back 'verse) we just now got the feeling that we're meeting, for the first time
"There's a moment when you say to yourself, there you are.. I've been looking for you forever. Some people find it hard to believe that Wes and Lola had that moment nearly two decades ago, but let's just say that Mr. and Mrs. Sung are an anomaly.. in more ways than one. Still, not all of us can be that lucky. It's rare that you find the love of your life on the swing set.. or in high school.. or even out in the world. Wes and Lola made me never want to stop looking.
To the happy couple!"
By the time he finished his speech, his hands were shaking. The glass of champagne he had been clutching onto remained untouched, but he was thankful to have something to hold onto. The trembling had started when he locked eyes with Kurt a few seconds after the microphone was handed to him. Something about the juxtaposition of past and present staring back at him was just so overwhelming. In that moment, he saw the boy he had fallen in love with and the man he wanted to get to know - and he wanted to know him, so, so badly.
He could only hope that he wanted to know him too.
Of course, he couldn't just go over and talk to him, like a normal person would have. Even after all of these years, the words still came more easily to Blaine when he found himself in front of an audience. Just the idea of speaking with Kurt one-on-one had him on the brink of a panic attack. What would he even say? "Oh, hi Kurt. Sorry I've spent the past three years pretty much ignoring you. I'm not engaged anymore, so that's pretty cool, I guess. I'm not over you, by the way. Unless you're over me.. in that case, I'm so over you. Totally over you. So over you it's not even funny."
As Wes and Lola made their way to the dance floor for that first dance as a married couple, Blaine found himself on auto-pilot, heading to one of the tables in the back of the reception tent. He collapsed into one of the empty chairs, tugging at his tie in an attempt to force more oxygen into his adrenaline addled brain. He should say something, he should say something.
..or he could just be the crazy person sitting alone at a wedding, muttering to himself.
