" ...Oh," was all Kurt could think of to say, and he found that he had to sit down. He wasn't sure if it was the shock or the relief or the way the sad look in Blaine's eyes twisted and tugged at his heart, but for one reason or another his legs just didn't want to hold him up right now. He sank into the seat across from Blaine and stared down at the table top like maybe it would tell him what to say. It didn't. Stupid table.
"I'm..." No, he couldn't say that. He wasn't sorry. From what Kurt had seen, from what Wes had said (because if Wes genuinely disliked someone, it had to be serious), being Brenden's boyfriend would have been the worst thing for Blaine. And even had it not been, how could Kurt be sorry that Blaine was unattached? He wasn't ready to go out with him again, it was true. But he wasn't ready to see him with anyone else, either. It was selfish, he knew that, but... but that was the way it was.
That didn't mean he was happy Blaine was upset. He stretched out a hand, reaching halfway across the table, but thought better of it and pulled back. He wasn't sure how Blaine would respond to the gesture. "Are you okay?"
