Now that I have a good idea of where I am going with him, here is Marcus Zhao, 25 years old, born and raised in Seattle, Washington until his parents ripped up his roots and moved the family to Los Angeles, California to pursue some better restaurant ventures—something along the lines of selling the Seattle restaurant and heading to Los Angeles to open/oversee another after months of his dad traveling back and forth for it. One of those pivotal business moves, but needless to say, Marcus wasn’t too happy about it, got on a wild child streak at the time (though to what extent, I haven’t figured out quite yet), got a chip of wanderlust on his shoulder, and somehow ended up in Seoul. I know I said for college in ~pbads, but I think it was far more a case of finding a corner of the world to make work for him, and Seoul is where he landed just under a year ago. I’m still trying to figure out an occupation for him (with a leaning towards food or bartending, maybe both) if anyone has any suggestions or places with coworkers. Personality-wise he’s kind of that arrogant cool guy with a healthy dose of being a total nerd for a variety of things including motorcycles and fast cars, music, probably a handful of anime series, and food (of course), so it’s a little more balanced than it sounds. “Aloof” would probably be more appropriate than “arrogant”.
As for lines, I’m open to anything! He’s got a best friend since forever in
stitches and will probably forever bother
lacktoast for baked goodies, but otherwise, he is as blank as blank can be. Some general ideas: friends from Seattle (1994-2010), friends from Los Angeles (2010-2014) or New York (2014-2017), friends from Seoul (2017-present), exes/flings, travel buddies, customers and coworkers wherever he ends up working, people he just rubs the wrong way, cousins, people who helped him out when he first got to Seoul, language buddies since he needs
all the help. I’m happy to work out anything/brainstorm with everyone!
