Who: Lia and Gen(evive)
What: Lia decides to get her hair done!
Where: The Charles River Salon
When: Monday afternoon (03/31/08)
Rating: NC-17, yo. (No, kidding. Probably like. G? >.> TBD!)
Open: to [info]sommers_wind

Too much had happened since the night of the party. Too much that surrounded the death of Leonardo Marino, quite possibly the one man (besides her brother) that Aurelia Spencer owed her life to. She still hadn't figured out just how to deal with the news. Although she knew the Marino family as an extension of her own (in a surrogate way), she'd managed to remain on the borders of everything that had gone on before.

For some reason, she had a feeling that was about to change.

But she couldn't deal with that right then. So in order to chase the mice away from her brain, she found herself heading in the direction of the Charles River Salon. In all honesty, it had been too long since she'd seen Gen. Though Luc had broken up with her, Gen was still like a sister, and a best friend to boot.

Once she reached the salon, she pulled the door open and glanced around. Not too busy, from the looks of it. The five-foot-six brunette approached the counter and asked for Gen. Once she'd finished that, she headed over to a seat and picked up a magazine, beginning to idly thumb through it. Though she would probably never have the courage to go as short as some of the models in the magazines, she couldn't help but admire the way the hairstyles looked.

Gen hadn't been doing much, beyond thinking over everything that had gone on recently. She'd come back into contact with Lucas, she'd kissed him, and hadn't seen or spoken to him since.

Lia, on the other hand, she'd remained in contact with. She held it against her slightly that she hadn't told Gen that Luc as in Boston, but didn't let it get in the way of the occasional email with updates on her life. She missed Lia, and knew that she was a type of surrogate sister to the girl.

She had, after all, brought Lia to her house when her father was at his worst, letting her stay overnight, and pushing her to befriend her own little sister. It was all she could do for the poor girl.

Gen wandered out of the back office, heading to the front desk. She didn't pay attention to the customer sitting in the lobby, just looking to her appointment book. When it was blank, she looked to the desk clerk, who pointed to the woman flipping through a style magazine.

"She requested you, but she's a walk-in." Gen nodded, then headed over.

"Hey there. How can I help you today?" When the woman looked up from the magazine, Gen let out a small squeak. "LIA!" She moved in and hugged her, squeezing her gently. "How the hell are you?"

There was never, ever a day or time when Lia would forget Gen's kindness, or the fact that her sister and Lia had bonded whenever she spent time with them. That probably made her silence on Luc's being in Boston not-so-good, but she hadn't really known how to say it. Still, she probably should have felt bad about that, and would have felt bad, had it not been for the fact that she didn't really even know Gen held it against her.

But there was no point in thinking over that, until one of them actually brought it up. So when she heard the woman's voice, she glanced up slowly, her expression brightening even as Gen let out the squeak. She jumped up and hugged her tight, not letting go for a moment or three.

"Gen! You look .. fantastic." She smiled as she said it, stepping back a foot or so to really get a look at her. "I'm alright. You know, I've been taking a lot of pictures," but none since the party. At least, none professionally. "But other than that, I've just been .. busy." Oh! And also! My brother's surrogate dad died the other night. Yeah, you heard, right? That went unsaid as she rocked back on her heels.

"Enough about me." The smile that lingered there faded for a moment. "How have you been?" Needless to say, Lia still had no idea that Gen and Luc had seen each other and kissed each other. Yet.

Gen smiled at Lia, shaking her head. "You look fantastic, m'dear." She gave Lia's upper arms a squeeze before she released her, happy to see the girl. "Glad to hear you're still doing the photography thing. You were always so good at it." Genevieve smiled fondly. "Still collecting comics?"

Genevieve waved off the question, feeling it more loaded than Lia meant for it to be. "I'm good. Working, a lot. I've gotten a good customer base going here. It's nice." She trailed off a bit, suddenly distracted, but then roused herself back to Lia. "So, you're in need of a haircut? What can I do for you?" She turned Lia to the side so she could get a look at her hair, picking the length up off her shoulders and feeling how thick it was. "Looks like you need a trim, but were you thinking of anything in particular?"

Her genuine smile was quick to appear at the sound of Gen's compliment. "Thanks. I figure I better be good at it, since I don't want to do anything else, y'know?" She nodded, flicking some of her hair behind her ears. "Yeah, I actually found some rare X-Men comics the oth --" She paused and chuckled, shrugging. "You probably don't want to know the details. And once you get me started, you know me." Never stopped.

"The place is nice," she gestured around the salon with a nod, in response to the comment about having a good customer base. "Well," her hand went back to her hair, toying with the ends of it. "I want a change, I guess." She needed a change. Granted, it was just hair, but. "Nothing too drastic or flashy. Something that's .. me." Nose crinkled at her lame description. "I dunno, Gen. I trust you. Go crazy. But. not so crazy that Luc will kill me come time for the funeral."

She stopped upon saying that word aloud and backpedaled. Still couldn't believe that Leonardo was really dead. For some reason, it really stuck in her mind.
