Where: The Firecracker
When: Friday night
Rating: PG-13 for mature language
Open? Very!!

Spring Break had started on the 24th, and like any college student, he was doing his best (lie!) to enjoy the freedom and the lack of necessity to study. Although, unlike most, Liam had actually decided to crack a book or two while he was off for the week. The man was constantly studying, constantly trying to forward himself academically. So it really wasn't any surprise that he'd waste a few hours of said freedom with his nose perpetually buried.

Still, it would be a lie to say that he didn't enjoy any of the time off in the usual college bound way. No, he didn't flee the city for the warmer climates or the sandy shores. Wandering away from Boston wasn't really on his list of things to do. In fact, Liam had only left the state a handful of times and all of those times were either with family or on some school field trip. But that is neither here nor there.

After spending most of his 'vacation' within the confines of his home either reading or drinking by himself, he figured it was about time to get the hell out of the house. It was almost depressing that it took until the last day of break to actually decide to do just that. Alright, so we've established that Liam isn't exactly the normal college kid. In fact, he's never really been the epitome of your normal, average anything.

Aside from possibly being your normal, average .. Connelly. In fact, he's probably the only average one. His older brothers far exceeded that description, each with their own outstanding strength and persona. Liam never quite felt like he fit into the family. Again, that is neither here nor there.

He was dressed in a pair of dark gray slacks with black dress shoes and a long sleeved dress shirt of slate blue with gray vertical pinstripes. It was his usual exterior appearance. Well-kempt, clean cut, put together, all of those lovely descriptives that people come up with in regards to the commonly snobbish look of some. Though Liam was anything but snobbish.

Pushing the front door of the Connelly family pub open, he made his way into the crowd. The smell of cigarettes and beer lingered in the air. A familiar smell that he was quite happy to escape to. He'd spent a lot of time in this bar over the last few years, even before he was old enough to legally be allowed within its doors.

Moving through the other patrons, he found his way to the bar. He leaned forward against the countertop, between two of the currently unoccupied stools. His vision sought out his friend, Cally, who worked behind the bar on most days. But he didn't see her right off the bat, if she was there. So instead, he ordered his usual from whoever happened to be there and took his seat on the stool to his left.

Another day, another night in the Firecracker. This place was like Cally's second home, considering that she spent more time there than she did her own apartment. It wasn't as if she ever minded though. Everyone that entered the bar, for the most part, were familiar with Cally and treated her with respect. Of course, there was the occasional guy or two that decided to take their flirtations up a level, but they were immediately rejected by not only Cally, but the regulars in the nearby surroundings. Those customers would take care of Cally as if she were apart of the family, and that was something that she thoroughly appreciated.

Dressed in a pair of black jeans that hugged her curves and a midnight blue halter top, her long blonde hair was down and straight. At that given moment while Liam entered the bar, Cally was busy in the storage room gathering up bottles of liquor that they were running low on up front. It amazed her, at times, how much alcohol they could go through - especially during Spring Break. Those that decided to stick around Boston would make their way over to the Firecracker - and well, anyone with half a brain could tell what would happen over the course of the night. It definitely made for some interesting nights, as far as Cally was concerned.

Once Cally made her through the crowd that developed near the storage room, she could be seen carrying a box. Politely declining any offers to help her bring it to the bar, she easily managed to make her way to the counter. That was when out of the corner of her eye did Cally see Liam. With a smile on her face, she walked over toward him and offered him a hug from the side. "Look at who decided to show his handsome face around." Pulling away after a moment, she pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, but continued to grin at Liam. "Did you get enough of your books already? I was beginning to think that I wasn't going to see you on your break."

Liam lifted the glass that had been handed his way, sipping from it as he stared forward, just letting the sounds of the bar slip through his ears and buzz in his head. No, he'd never worked there, so he didn't have the everyday experience. But he still had some. This was still a place he was so used to that everything seemed second nature to him here.

He'd just barely lowered the froathy beverage back down to the bar when he felt arms slip around him from the side. Smiling, he knew instantly who they belonged to and he looked over at her with a grin. "How could I let such a pretty girl down? There's no way that I could stay away for the entire week."

Turning toward her once she'd let him go, he moved to scoop his arms around her and lift her up in a bigger hug. Of course, if the other patrons and employees of the Firecracker hadn't known him, he'd have probably gotten his ass tossed directly from the establishment for that one. But they did. And so he was able to hold onto the pretty little bartender before setting her back to her feet.

Those small and large gestures of affection were common practice between them. "I figured that since this was the last day of break, not counting the weekend, I should make some good use of it."

Cally had a great relationship between all of the Connelly brothers - well, one brother in particular right now, she could do without given their history - but her and Liam were a different story. They constantly spent time with one another and could depend on each other if there was a time of need. Hell, they had been there on separate occasions that both could really go without mentioning.

"Well, you came close to it. It's the last day and this is when you decide to come around? I was close to being heart broken here." Her laughter broke any sort of serious tone she could have had, particularly when he picked her up and offered her a giant bear hug. Returning the hug, she waited until he placed her back down on her feet to put her hand on his biceps. "You sure you weren't hitting the gym instead of the books? You picked me up easy there."

Offering him another grin, she moved to sit down on one of the empty stools that he was standing in between. "I think I could take my break now. I'm just wondering why you didn't decide to take a vacation or something for Spring Break. You deserve to get out every now and then, you know."

"What can I say? I was keeping you in suspense." He said with a slight shrug of the shoulders, this coy little smirk resting on his lips. He knew she wasn't really anywhere near heartbroken, considering the laugh in her tone. Besides, the two of them were always playful like this with one another. Both verbally and physically. Nothing too major, of course. She was, after all, his brother's ex-girlfriend which made her sort of off limits in that 'bros before hoes' kind of way. Not that Cally was a hoe by any means.

Glancing down at her hand on his arm, that smirk became even more of a smile as he replied all nonchalantly. "Oh yeah. Don't you know it. I can bench twice my weight now. I'm thinking about trying out for the Iron Man competition." He nodded his head at that before laughing it off. Could you imagine? Liam Connelly is a weight lifter. Ha! The only things he did lift were his books. "Come on, you barely weigh anything at all. Of course, I picked you up easily. You say it like I'm some sort of wimp. Sheesh!"

Still laughing he turned on his own stool, since he'd sat awhile before, and watched her for a moment. "Breaks are good." Smile. "I didn't really feel like going anywhere. Not that the family couldn't survive without me around. I'm more of a nuisance then I'm worth, right?" He said it in this mildly teasing manner, though in some ways he was serious and she probably knew it.

"Yeah, well try not to do that for too long next time. Otherwise, I'll just have to replace you with another that's willing to meet my needs." With a cock of her head, she couldn't help that innocent grin that crossed her features. If there was anyone that she felt completely comfortable in joking around with, it was Liam. Although she was Matt's ex-girlfriend and there was an obvious strain between the two of them, that didn't mean that her friendship with Liam could ever suffer. She still felt part of the family, which was something that Cally appreciated over the years.

Not being able to help that playful roll of her eyes toward him, she matched it with that smile that always seemed to be apparent whenever those two were around each other. "Oh, here I would've thought that I'd have to be a cheerleader for you in that competition now!" Pausing for a moment when he stated that she thought he may have been a wimp. Locking her eyes with his, she did her best to give a straight face. "Well, I guess you are right about that one..." she trailed off for a moment or two before she laughed it off. "I'm only kidding. Come on, you know that you're far from a wimp."

Pushing back a strand of her hair that was covering her eyes, she turned herself in her seat so that they were facing one another. "Don't say that." She had this soft sense to her tone, her hand gently rubbing his knee before placing it back in her own lap. "You should give yourself more credit, you know. Your family adores you. You don't have to be in the family business and do what your brothers do for you guys to get along. Baseball season is starting up soon, invite them out to a game or something."
