WHO : Leo Marino & Brad Luca.
WHAT : Pledging alliances.
WHEN : Backdated a week.
WHERE : Leo's home/office.
RATING : PG.
OPEN : No.

BRAD LUCA : A couple weeks back in town and Brad was already looking up old contacts. Sure, he still had plenty in the bank after getting settled into an apartment, but the Italian felt as though he needed a purpose. A reason (other than to get back at his ex) to be back in Boston. It wasn't until he came across a picture of his dad that he realized he knew who to get in touch with; and what to do.

Standing outside of the large house, he shifted where he stood and cracked his neck to the side. It took a lot to make Brad Luca nervous…and he had to admit, he was a bit nervous. After knocking, and having the door answered, he told the man on the other side who he was and who he needed to see. Of course he had made prior arrangements to see Leo. Any idiot knew to make an appointment for something business related.

Stepping inside, Brad was ushered down a lengthy hallway. When they reached the end, the man gave a knock to the door, spout off something in Italian, and told Brad that Leo would see him in a few moments. Brad nodded, knowing already that he needed to brush up on his Italian, and watched as the other stalked off before moving to lean against the wall.

LEO MARINO : With his inside contact in the FBI more or less incapacitated, Leo had been put in a position of not being more or less blind when it came to the law enforcement of Boston. Things were tense around the Marino business, and Leo found himself busier than usual. Spending most days behind closed doors, the man rarely made it out of the house except for extreme need. He had people to do his bidding, but he was always on the look out to recruit. This morning's meeting, he had a feeling, would be brief, but if he was impressed by Brad, he wouldn't waste time beating around the bush. Show talent and loyalty, get a job. He wasn't an idiot who hired anyone, but he had an excellent way of detecting bull shitters, and it took a long time to work your way up within his business.

Hearing the knock at the door, he called out in Italian that he would be right there. Glancing around his office, he finally stood and made his way over to the door. Pulling it back, his eyes fell to the man standing there. "You must be Brad." He said with a curt nod, making no attempt to move toward him in greeting, but rather staying by the door.

BRAD LUCA : Eyes that had drifted in his time standing there were immediately turned to the door as it opened, his posture immediately straightening. Brad returned Leo's nod with one of his own, hands moving to fix the cuffs of his suit jacket. “Mr. Marino.” Extending his right hand, he took a step in the man's direction. His father had always told him a good business relationship always began with a good, firm handshake. “Good to see you, sir.” That and being well-mannered helped. Hopefully.

LEO MARINO : The corner of his mouth tugged into a flicker of a smile, but just as soon fell. It still amused him the way people shot up to attention in his presence. His hand gripped Brad's in a firm shake and he gave a bit of a nod. "You as well, come on in." He said, his tone slightly lighter as he stepped back. The initial greeting over, Leo became slightly more relaxed as he backed into his office, gesturing for Brad to do the same. Once inside, he closed the door behind him. "So what brings you to Boston, Mr. Luca?" He asked as he sat back down in his chair.

BRAD LUCA : That ever characteristic smirk of Brad's flicked the corner of his mouth upward as Leo turned around to move to his seat, but just as soon dropped as he put on his 'serious' face. Stepping over to Leo's desk, he waited until the man behind it sat before taking a seat in the chair opposite it. “Well, sir, I'll be honest with you. I've come back looking for a job.” He placed his hands on his knees, figuring he best get to the point. It never did anyone any good to dawdle.

LEO MARINO : Fingers lacing together, he placed his hands in his lap as he stared across his desk, trying to sum up the man in front of him before they even got to the meat of their conversation. His brows arched at the direct way Brad spoke to him. He liked that in an associate, preferring that to someone who just cowered and stuttered until Leo had to guess what they wanted. "A job, huh?" He spoke slowly, his fingers moving up to rub against his chin. "And just what kind of job are you looking for?"

BRAD LUCA : Brad had to fight to keep his smirk from flaring up, the simple gestures Leo practiced reminding him of the way his dad had spoke of Leo's father. It was the little things, but still. “Looking to take over the family business,” he offered the quickest of quirks of his mouth, “hit man. My father was a Marino loyal back in New York and I'm ready to offer my loyalties here in Boston.”

LEO MARINO : Leo had heard of the Luca family's loyalty. His father had trusted them, which right off the bat spoke well for the man before him. "Hit man." He said, a rumble of a chuckle escaping his lips as he shook his head. "So much for sugar coating." He said, smirking a little as he leaned back in his chair, hands once again knitting together. "Well I have a couple of weapons specialists..." He said, choosing his words very carefully. "Though I suppose we could start a little trial run, see how you fair. I'll be honest with you, I don't give much responsibility to new comers, and you won't know where you're going, what you're doing until you get there." He paused a moment, cocking his head to the side as he considered the man before him. "I suppose we could find a spot for you though. I'll have to talk it over with Julius and Lucas...who will essentially be your bosses as well. But orders always come from me."

BRAD LUCA : Oh yes. Ryder had been loyal up to the Marinos right up until his untimely death, that much Brad was sure of. And up until then his family had been well taken care of. It only made sense that Brad would follow in his father's footsteps, even if it meant risking his life.

Brad found himself relaxing back into the chair every so slightly as he listened to Leo's reply, a small grin crooking his lips. “You don't look the type to care for sugar coating, sir.” Teeth gnawed at his lower lip for a brief moment as he continued to listen, and he nodded. “Of course, sir, I wouldn't expect anything less.” Not knowing what he was doing until he got there? That was so up his alley. That had been how he'd lived most of his life, after all.

Slipping forward in his seat, he stood. “Thank you for this opportunity, Mr. Marino,” he said, knowing there were other casualties that needed to be spoken of, but figuring that he needed to speak with Julius and Lucas before telling Brad anything else. Extending his hand, he offered a smile, “I look forward to hearing from you, sir. You won't be disappointed.”

LEO MARINO : Leo gave a bit of a smile and nodded. "You're right." He agreed at Brad's assumption tht he was not a fan of sugar-coating. He was impressed with Brad in the short amount of time he had been in the meeting, which spoke volumes. Though the two of them hadn't spoken all that much, there were things to be said about the way someone carried himself, and the respect he was showing made it easier for Leo to make his decision. When Brad had asked for this meeting, he had done his research, reading up on logs kept by his father about his ties with Brad's father.

Standing up, he smoothed his hand down the front of his shirt before nodding. He reached out and clasped hands with Brad again, giving it a firm shake. "Be sure I don't." He said, finally letting go of his hand. His tone was still light, though there was an underlying promise beneath it. Leo had learned the hard way to be careful with whom he trusted, and he wouldn't soon enjoy going through that again. "I'll be in touch." He said with a nod. The more numbers on the Italian side, as far as he was concerned, the better.

BRAD LUCA : Brad knew he was taking a big step when looking into this profession, but it was what he wanted to do. What he was ready to do. Crossing his arms behind his back once Leo let go of his hand, he stood there for a moment and then nodded. “Thank you for your time. I'll let you get back to your work, sir..” He grinned, ducking his head a little in respect, “Have a good afternoon.” Brad nodded once more before turning and moving to the door. He could let himself out; no need for Mr. Marino to move from his seat.

Exiting the office, Brad almost ran into the man perched outside. Murmuring his apologies, he continued back down the hall to the door that led outside and to his car.
