VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR!
Who: Carly & Leo!
What: Double Shift!
Where: Steak & Legs!
When: Friday Night!
Rating: TBA!
Open? NO!

Dedicated. Carly was a dedicated worker. She had spent the prior days at the bar, getting in extra hours. She was in need of the extra cash. She seemed to just gain more expenses every day. She lived in an over-priced apartment, bought too many pairs of shoes, had a phone with too many features, and manage to spend more money on dog food then food for herself. Most of her money was in savings. But sometimes a girl just needs pocket change. Carly was that kind of gal. She needed to be able to treat herself to a spa day, or at least a mani-pedi every once in a while. She was willing to give up her Friday night to work. She had nothing better to do. Being a bartender, she tended not to drink too much anymore. The sights of drunk idiots, and blabbering individuals usually turned her off to looking that way herself. She considered herself a much classier Brit than that.

She slide her way in to the bar slowly, making sure some drunk baffoon didnt notice his usual victim for the night and try to stop her from getting to her final destination. Carly was keen on avoiding her customers outside of the work area. Who could blame her. She did take amusement in passing out the loser line every once in a while. Placing her purse and jacket in the back, she made her way behind the bar. A bright smile formed over her lips as she saw Leo.

"Present, love." she stated. She was there now, and in the zone to start taking orders. Lucking for her, most of the usuals had yet to come in. It was still early. Most didnt start drinking until at least nine or ten o'clock. Her back leaning against the bar, she sighed softly. "Hopefully its slow, but who am I kidding?" she said sarcastically, smiling at him. "How are you darling?"

Leoben had just entered the second-half of his shift. It could not really be called a double shift, more a triple shift as he was being forced to cover for some of the staff that had decided to call in sick for the Easter weekend. He'd been in at work at 8am this morning, cleaning up after the previous night and preparing for opening at 10.

They were incredibly under staffed at the moment and Leoben truly appreciated the extra shifts Carly and some of the other’s were picking up to help out. After the holidays he was going to put out an ad in the paper for some more bar staff, and fire the ones who’d bailed when the pressure came on. Lazy bastards.

He had no doubts that he looked like shit, well he always looked amazing but he knew he looked slightly less amazing right now. He’d worked until close early this morning and would no doubt be doing the same tonight. After tonight though he didn’t care if everyone called in sick; he was taking the day off.

“Why Hell-o, Carly, my dear!” Leoben said with a smile, his tone somewhat musical despite how tired he felt. Giving an agreeing nod at her hopes he reached below the bar and pulled out a Red Bull, popping it open before taking a sip, “I pray to the big man upstairs that it is, I am tired as hell!” He sighed, waiting for the energy drink to take effect.

Carly had noticed the shit factor he was displaying. She hated seeing him work so hard and yet be here the next day working the same closing shift. Carly frowned at him, cupping his cheek. "You look awful Leo." she mumbled, giving him a little bit of a sympathetic baby face. She considered him a good friend of hers, and it drove her a-wall when he worked harder then he needed to. She exhaled, pulling her hair back from her face and throwing it up in to a ponytail.

"Go home and get some sleep. You look like you haven't slept in like..days." she said as nicely as she could. The fact that he was also chugging red bull as if it were going out of style was another dead give away that he was tired. Those things drove her nuts.

"I can close up." she stated. She had done it before, and saw no point in not doing it again.

Leo winced slightly when she expressed verbally how he was feeling, "Thanks for the compliment, love. You look smashing yourself" He added, playful grin crossing his face. He knew she was just concerned, and as appealing as her suggestion sounded there was no way he'd be able to leave early tonight. It being a Friday night business would pick up any minute now and they'd soon both be running their feet off.

"Ah, as much as I would love to I've already started on the energy drinks, so there is no way I'll be sleeping until they wear off" He said with a small sigh, obviously just using the energy drink as an excuse.

Not wanting to put a depressing down on the night, just because he was tired, he decided to change the subject and brighten the mood, "I am having the day off tomorrow. Don' know what I'm going to do but I am fairly sure it involves a whole lot of nothin’ and my bed" He said with a small chuckle.

She nodded, understanding where he was coming from. That was why Carly never touched red bull. It always seemed to give her a big burst of energy, then followed by a huge crash. She exhaled, taking a few orders and passing out a few beers as she listened to his day off plans. "Sounds like fun." she said sarcastically. She was jealous. She would love a day off, but would love it more if it was a paid day off.

"Why don't you treat yourself to something nice? I mean, don't you have a craving for anything? Maybe some..shoes?" of course she was not really talking about him anymore. She moved shoe shopping. It was some what of an addiction. She could spend all her money and shoes and still be happy.

Treat himself? That sounded like a nice idea, though what would he treat himself with was the real question. He could not help but laugh at her mention of shoes. Leo swore he'd never seen Carly wear the same pair of shoes twice, he was convinced she had some kind of addiction... or moonlighting at a shoe store. Walking over to the tap he swiftly filled a glass with beer before exchanging it for cash with a gentleman near by.

"Shoes..." He trailed off with a small smirk, "I did see a pair of Jimmy choo's the other day that were to die for!" He said flamboyantly with a faux, cliché, gay accent, nudging her with his elbow playfully. His Red Bull obviously taking its effect.

“I don’ know, aye” he said with a small shrug, “I don’t know how I would. I don’t really find enjoyment from buying things”

She laughed, refilling a couple of shot glasses. The night was going to be long, but at least she had someone to talk too. Drunks got rather boring after a while anyway. Carly cleared her throat, trying to ignore the drunk that was smirking at her. She laughed softly, glancing at him. "I think you would look so cute in jimmys." She was trying to be as honest as possible, but that never really worked in her favor. She laughed again, sliding some money in to the drawer.

"Well. It's better to save your money anyway." she said softly, pulling a few loose strands behind her ears. She loved her shoes, but by the end of a lond shift they were killing her feet. She usually had to either take a hot shower or stay off her feet for a while afterward.

"When is your birthday, anyway." she said softly and curiously. She had always wanted to plan a birthday party. She usually was the party reciever, not the planner.

Leoben gave a small nod, she was right of course. He should save his money; it was after all the responsible thing to do. The endless supply of cash he received from his dead dad's companies kind of stopped any satisfaction Leoben got from saving though. “I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I’d look fantastic in some choo’s” He said with a small snort of laughter.

Noticing the incredibly creepy man smirking at Carly he raised his head and gave the man the brightest smile Leoben could muster. The man was obviously slightly unnerved by Leoben’s somewhat random smile and moved away from the bar. Letting out a soft chuckle Leo moved over to the sink to grab a wet cloth. When he had first started his first bar tending job somebody had told him, ‘Always smile, it scares people’, they were words to live by; it usually scared/confused the drunks every time.

He was just wiping up some spilled drink off the bar when she asked him about his birthday, “Carly! I am shocked and hurt that you would not remember my birthday” He said shaking his head sadly, “And don’t use the excuse that it was on February 15th and you didn’t know me all that well, cause that excuse will just not fly with me, missy” he said, waving a finger at her slightly.

Carly laughed, watching the guy walk away. "That guy looked like he was going to hurt you." she said, acting like him. "Ill stomp on yo face." she said in a grumpy, man voice. She giggled, pulling strands behind her ears. She loved when he played big brother to her. Sometimes it was nice to have someone other than your own brother pretend to be one.

"Im sorry love. I will make it up to you. Lets go out tomorrow and do something. Get dinner, or take out, and watch old movies." she said, stating the first things that came to her head. "I don't know. But you missed mine too so I guess we are even." she said, shrugging as she passed out a couple more beers.

Leoben could not contain his laughter at her 'grumpy old man' impression. He tried to keep a straight face, but the corners of his mouth began to involuntarily turn upwards until he was eventually grinning. Pretending to wipe a fake tear he smiled widely at her, "You'll stomp my face?" He threw his head back and laughed again, "What an absurd threat!"

After he'd calmed down from her impression, a laugh sneaking out every now and then, he gave a small nod, "That sounds good, as long as it's on a am laying on a soft and fluffy surface and no thought is required, I am in". Crooked smile returning to his face he could not help but think about how much he was looking forward to the idea of bludging tomorrow.

She laughed at herself. It was a pretty stupid impression, but one she figured would be possible. When people were drunk, anything could happen. She exhaled lightly, continuing to serve beers and shots here and there. "I know. I would laugh in the face of someone that said something like that to me." she said, laughing gently.

"That sounds perfect to me. I might just take a few days off and get a massage." she continued, letting out a deep breath. "Or maybe just got to the beach, or go to the city, or something!" she said. She needed a vacation.
