He suddenly didn't seem to be much for conversation, so Shizuka remained silent as well, simply taking his arm and walking with him away from the house. She was beginning to wish she'd brought a pair of sunglasses, but for the life of her, she couldn't actually remember where she'd put any of them. She had at least four pairs, and even though she could have sworn that she always tossed them on her dresser, they never seemed to be there when she woke up. The last time she checked, sunglasses weren't sentient, and they couldn't sprout legs and hop away, so either she was growing senile well ahead of schedule, or she was misremembering.
She would have to go on a hunt later, and stuff a pair in her purse for safe keeping. That made the most sense anyway. What good were they sitting around on a dresser? They were most easily forgotten there. And why was she thinking so hard about a pair of freaking sunglasses?
Absently, she yawned. God she was tired. She had no excuse, either. It wasn't as if her social calendar was jam packed. If anything, it was full of cobwebs. Meeting people while in college had been easy, what with classes and activities and roommates and parties, but it was completely different in a quiet town like it. No one seemed especially interested in getting to know her other than Killian and Jim, and Shizuka was growing lonely. With any luck, this upcoming party would enable her to actually meet people and make a few friends so she would have something to do and she wouldn't spend so much of her time being bored and feeling sorry for herself.
Or maybe she should just find a job. That would give her something to do with her time, and she would be earning money as well. Then she could save up for a car and she would be able to do a decent food shopping without having to worry about hauling everything home. Soda was heavy. She'd noticed a day care center; perhaps she would check it out tomorrow and see if they needed any extra hands.
Resisting the urge to lean into Killian - just a little bit - Shizuka asked, "Are you going to swim, too?"
