If Shizuka had been aware of Killian's complicated backstory and current predicament, she would have - privately - played armchair psychologist, armed with what she had learned in her entry level psych 101 class, and asserted that in his endless pursuit of a warm, willing body to share his embrace, he was, essentially, attempting to fill a void within himself. However, due to his inability to both accept and let go of the past, his trysts remained temporary, thus only filling that void for a brief amount of time before leaving him empty once again, forcing him on a journey to scratch an itch that would never be sated because he would not allow himself any peace. It was easier and less painful to simply wall himself off, view acquaintances as pawns to be used and discarded, and pursue his goals ruthlessly rather than risk the possibility of getting hurt again.
Of course, with a massive amount of persuasiveness, perseverance, and dedication, someone with the right heart could get through to him and coax him through the healing process. But Shizuka would never believe that she had the capability of fixing something broken, and as hard as she would try to be his friend, if the pirate got downright cruel in his attempts to chase her away, she would cut her losses and run. She had suffered enough abuse in her life; in her eyes, very, very few things were worth tolerating more, even with a guaranteed benefit waiting at the end of the ordeal. She would go through hell and high water for her friends, but even she had her limits.
As it stood, however, she still knew almost nothing about Killian. In the near future, questions would have to be asked. It would be a give and take, certainly, which was only fair and expected, but that was how friendships bloomed, even romances, and the latter was not far from her mind as she melted into their kiss and enjoyed the feel of his bare skin against portions of hers. She even managed to reassure herself that if Killian wound up treating this entire situation as flippantly as his flirting, she would get over it and move on, plant a smile on her face and mouth friendly, polite words as she had always done to hide the hurt. She'd had years to hone her acting skills, and one man would not be her undoing.
No matter how delicious he felt, or how hard he was making it to remember why, exactly, she was so determined to remain chaste.
Disappointment flared when his mouth drew away, but Shizuka took the chance to breathe, letting out a light gasp when his lips traced a hot trail down to her neck. Tilting her head to give him better access, she squirmed a little restlessly, the hand at his back rising to gently trace over his spine. Feeling bold, she mimicked his own movements, lightly tickling along his side and resisting the urge to slip the hand between them to stroke his abdomen, just to see how he would respond. It was something she'd never considered doing with anyone else, and she wondered what it was about Killian Jones that was bringing out such a wicked side of her.
