CHARACTERS: James Kirk and Shizuka Jounouchi SETTING: Backdated to Monday evening SUMMARY: They have a picnic under the stars RATINGS/WARNINGS: Low? STATUS: Incomplete
Food preparation for the picnic didn't take very long. Little sandwiches were delicately cut in half and placed into the small cooler, along with a container of grapes and sliced melon and strawberries. After mulling over the potential of soda cans exploding after a trip in the car, Shizuka instead chose to pack bottles of water, figuring that being covered in sticky carbonation would ruin the evening even if it would initially be hilarious. She added a couple of baby bags of potato chips and, ignoring the fact that she might have been going overboard, a tiny box of crackers, just in case.
After all, some people enjoyed grazing.
Closing the cooler, she fetched a large, flannel blanket, hoping James wouldn't mind that it was covered in dancing cartoon bunnies. With a job well done, she then focused on getting herself ready, dressing in a comfortable, casual dark blue sundress and sandals, fastening an ankle bracelet and necklace almost as an afterthought. She didn't know if this constituted a date or not, but regardless, she felt the need to look pretty. She paused in front of the mirror long enough to run a brush through her red hair and apply makeup.
Figuring her appearance was as good as it was going to get without some sort of intense intervention, Shizuka settled herself in the living room, curling up on the couch with a book as she waited for James to arrive, excited for their night out.
