His evening could have gone worse, all things considered. Hook had gone through an encounter with the Queen of Hearts without anything to hold over her head and managed to walk out of it alive. In fact, she seemed to believe that he was still more or less on the faithful side, so ... mission accomplished. Okay, so yes, she'd given his heart a wee squeeze to punctuate she was serious but that was almost to be expected. The fact she let him keep it was as always, rather shocking. Hook really did think that Cora simply enjoyed him more with a heart, though he couldn't say why. The point was, he'd met with the Queen, not given her anything too telling, and survived the encounter to boot. Killian had earned a night with a bottle of rum, a box of biscuits, and yes, making Regina writhe. All had their charms and their comforts, though one far more than the other two. A part of him knew how dangerous it was to fool around with Regina with Cora in town. Despite Regina's certainty that Cora would not find out, Hook was not so sure. The old bat was nosy and suspicious. Even if she seemed to think he was compliant, that didn't mean she wouldn't keep an eye on him. She'd known of his betrayal without being there to witness it, known details she shouldn't have known. The Queen of Hearts was quite intrepid in finding out things he would have liked to hide. Still, selfish and desperate man that he was, Hook wanted to see Regina. Wanted to hold her, know she was safe. Know that her mother hadn't changed her, convinced her of what she'd believed so firmly before. Killian wanted to kiss her until she saw stars, assure her that maybe it would all work out. He didn't want to be away from her, even though it was probably the safest for him. He wanted to get drunk, wanted to be with the woman he loved, and no matter the danger he would bloody well do it. Hook locked the door behind himself, even though in the end he knew it wouldn't do any good. Cora wouldn't have been stopped by a door or a deadbolt. Blue eyes appraised his foyer and living room, and not seeing Regina he called, "Darling?" Had his kitten overdosed on oreos? Or had she not made it in the first place? Hook was not usually so easily inspired to concern, but with Cora in town, it made it too easy to worry. |
