"Yeah," she said, nodding. "I'm 22 now. I'll be 23 at the end of the month." Claire had almost forgotten about her birthday, actually. She'd been too wrapped up in dealing with suddenly finding herself in Lincoln River, and trying to escape.
On one hand, she was glad Nathan was there and she had this chance. On the other... she sorely missed the freedom of the road. After three years of traveling on her own, staying in one place for too long made her twitchy.
She paused a moment, trying to calculate the weeks in her head. "Um, almost two months? It's been a struggle to get settled, but I'm glad you're here." Even with all the complications toward the end, Claire knew Nathan wanted to do right by her, and by everyone else. Most of the bad that had happened, the decisions that were made... it wasn't his fault.
