"I'm not a ducky." Years of hearing almost nothing but ticking had taught Matt how to pick up on the smallest of sounds, be that voices or shuffling along the streets and alley.
When the cup had been placed before him, the fluffy haired keeper took in a long whiff, eyes closing at the delicious scent. It smelled just as good as it looked but the true test would be... Slender fingers picked up to spoon and dipped it into the cup, getting just enough to taste of the chocolate and whipped cream. Matt took his testing taste and squeaked a bit. Yep. Just as good as it looked and smelled.
He opened his eyes and let his head tilt to the side as the woman hurried away, a bit surprised at all the noise coming from the kitchen. Any worries he had were alleviated when she returned with shortbread and the biscotti. Ooooh... Shortbread was the best, it went wonderfully with tea and hopefully it would go just as well with this chocolate.
"This is wonderful. Thank you for making it for me. My name is Matt by the way, I own the clock shop a few ticks down."
