The way August ran things, they were a pack but not an armed forces regiment. They had to stay close - otherwise what was the point? - but weren't all forced to do the exact same thing. Otherwise, again, what was the point? There was so much to do, so many ways to seize the moonlight, it would just be a waste to command every member of the pack to do the exact same thing like lemmings. Sam looked surprised at her request, and Jo blinked right back, shrugging. It would work out great to have him with her. Jo didn't want to be too close to the pack tonight, but being alone would probably hurt even more. That he agreed filled her with Joy, and the girl's face lit up as she grinned widely. She nodded in heartfelt thanks. "It'll be fun, I haven't really seen you wolf out yet."
While Sam messed with the radio Jo was well on her way to having the patties cooked enough. They were wolves; while it was important to cook meat enough that it wasn't a hazard, they didn't really like it too well done. At least she didn't, and assumed Sam was the same. She'd ask him to try just to be safe, then cook it some more if it wasn't to his taste. She moved on to working on the other things, and after a while felt his gaze on her and turned around. Nodding, Jo smiled as if to say the volume was just right, then returned to cooking. A moment went by before she realized something wasn't right and turned around again. Sam was still standing; it took her a while to realize why, and then she sighed. "Get some place mats from that drawer for me? Oh and then take them with you when you have a seat." She smiled.
