Whether or not she had been uncomfortable and upset, right now Jo was anything but. About Sam, at least. The little warmth his words had bubbled up inside her was more than welcome at the moment when everything else felt cold and awful, almost like a bad dream she couldn't really wake up from. Still she supposed if he had noticed her eyes welling up he would be upset. "Ah, sorry, I'm just..." She sighed, eyes closed. "I'm a little emotional right now." Jo looked away as she admitted such, wiping her eyes again.
Sam's honesty when he spoke at all was one of the things Jo really liked about him, even though she supposed he hadn't developed certain social graces for a very bad reason. "Well, I'm just glad you came here." She replied with a light chuckle. "I've been surrounded by people but feeling really alone all the same. People don't really know what to say when stuff like this happens;" she looked around. "And my brothers and sister are in about the same mood as I am." Not that they weren't united, far from it. It was more a matter of not wanting to show weakness to each other, wanting to put on a brave face for everyone else. Jo supposed that ran in the family. Looking down at her sketch pad she realized her drawing of Sam was nearly done. Adjusting the shading a bit here and there, Jo turned it around for him to see. "That's you, all done."
