It made sense to Sam in the way most things did in that he could apply an animal's logic to it. Farren hadn't tiptoed around acquainting herself with him not only because she outranked him in this pack hierarchy and that alone would have been enough, but Sam knew it was just as likely to be because wolves weren't often nervous creatures around their own kind, especially not when they were in their own territory. In bringing him into the pack's home August had declared to the rest of his family that he didn't perceive Sam as a threat -- he really wasn't, he couldn't pose a threat even if he tried -- and that they had no need to do so either. Lotti and Jo had been a lot quicker than their -- presumably -- older sister in speaking with him and spending time with him but Farren had been under no obligation to do so and now that she felt the need she wasn't wasting time. The animal side of Sam actually appreciated that, not that he would ever say as much.
Following her out of his room and into the hall Sam kept a respectful distance, listening when she spoke and halting when she did in order to maintain that distance. The explanation that she had been talking about a game the entire time had him mouthing a silent and sheepish oh because most people would have known that right off the bat. But not Sam. It always took him much longer than everyone else to figure out those sorts of things, they didn't come to him easily. The tone didn't startle him either, whether or not Farren would believe it -- she certainly wouldn't be aware -- she was still addressing him in a gentler fashion than those from his birth pack.
When he arrived in the living room several seconds after Farren herself had gotten there she was already handing something to him and obediently as ever he took it from her and then sat himself down where she gestured for him to do so. It didn't even occur to Sam to ask what was going on because an Omega never questioned directions from a more dominant wolf, just like they always answered the questions that were asked of them, which he did with a shake of his head. "Never," he added, looking down at the controller in his hand before deciding it would probably be appreciated if he elaborated a little. "I've never played any games before." As hard as that might be for Farren to believe. She had her work cut out for her to say the least.
