For a brief second, Lotti had felt a rush of excitement when Sam had said he was looking for her older brother and Alpha, August. What immediately followed had her yelping before she could control the sound; stumbling as Julian pulled her behind him, she reached up and steadied herself by grabbing his arm. The scents awash in the area had her fight or flight instinct surging to the surface and for a moment she also cowered, ducking further behind the huge figure that Julian cut. The moment passed and she peeked around Julian's side to see that Sam was baring his throat. She heard the sound he made and it went straight to her heart -- there was absolutely no way this wolf was a threat to any of them, much less an Alpha in his prime. She watched the exchange and waited, looking to Julian to take her cues from him -- it was well beyond the point where they could ignore their instincts for the sake of appearing completely human. She didn't care the scene they were causing, the fact remained that she wanted to help. No wolf should be this beaten down, not even an Omega. When the initial shock of Julian's movement calmed down and she felt him go still, she gently squeezed the hand she still had on his arm.
"Uncle Jules," she murmured, ducking her head a bit as she said it so he would know she knew he was in charge of the situation, "he's not a threat." That was pretty much a no-brainer, and while she would feel sorry for saying that out loud, it was still the truth. "Just look at him." And Lotti turned so she could look to Sam. He was in full submission and it hurt her to see it. She wasn't going to step on Julian's toes by any means, but she wanted this situation to stop being so tense. "Where did you hear his name?" See? She could be helpful, and it wasn't giving anything away by asking that. To be perfectly honest, Lotti's curiosity was still in full tilt and the more Sam acted like this, the more she wanted to know why. It puzzled her to see a wolf this skittish. It made logical sense, she knew -- Sam was in an unknown pack's territory, alone, and was happened upon by the pack's Beta and the Alpha's youngest sister. Sam didn't exactly know that, but it was clear that anyone else in the Summers' pack would be dominant over him, even the current Omega. "Did you come a long way to find him?" Careful, harmless questions. Maybe that would ease the situation, but Lotti moved so she was looking back up at Julian, her shoulders curved slightly. See, Uncle Jules, I can be good!
