So they sent an owl Date: November 26th 2005 Characters: Matthew Stebbins, Neville Longbottom, Alecto Carrows (NPC), Rodolphus Lestrange (NPC) and various other NPCs as needed. Location: London (Ministry and St.Mungo's) Private/Public: Private at first, then if you think your character can bring something to the plot (which WILL be lasting over a few day), ping Anick or Jess. Rating/Warnings: omg.. R for language and violence. Summary: Matt goes back to work and get snatched by Death Eaters.. but why??
He wasn’t in a hurry at all that afternoon. It was quite quiet at St.Mungo’s lately, especially after the catastrophic epidemic that resulted in deaths both amongst the patients and the personnel. It had taken days before they were all sure that it was passed and that the wing could be used again. Matthew himself had remained in quarantine about two days after the whole ordeal had been finished before they let him go home to Neville who had been worrying the whole time even though Matt had reassured him through owl that he was fine. To both men’s delight, Matt had been given two whole days off afterwrds.
Matt had mourned his coworker and friend in silence, preferring not to bother Neville so much about it. It wasn’t that he was pushing him away, far from it. But mourning Alice’s death just seemed a bit too weird considering that it was how Nev’s mother was named too. Still, after a few days, everything went back to normal even though Matt was still sad about Alice a little.
Work had gone back to normal for both of them and Matthew was enjoying it immensely. Other than that, Gran was going completely nuts about the wedding. She had been pleased to learn that they were taking the next step (obviously she had also been expecting it). At first, poor Gran, she had been expecting to be planning for January 1st 2007, which would give her about 14 months to plan. Two months, to her standards, was not enough but the boys had been adamant. They were not going to wait a whole year before getting married.
So now they had to work on the wedding six times faster. The cake was sorted out, full blown chocolate cake with nice almond colored fondant and a few well placed flowers from Bones Delicacies would do the trick and so far they had been working quite a lot on the menu. It was still a struggle for him to give his opinion about the flowers or the place where to actually have the ceremony. Ideas had been thrown out there, including having both the ceremony and the reception in the ballroom of the Longbottom Mansion. Matthew had mentioned how nice it would have been to have the ceremony in the gardens and for a moment he swore he had seen Gran smirking.
There was something he was dreading, though. Shopping for his wedding suit. He had wondered if he should go for wizards robes but soon decided that a simple Muggle tuxedo would do and so far he had tried on many and nothing seemed to fit him or his style. He still had some time though so he would keep trying to find the perfect outfit. He had no idea if Neville had even started looking, but he hoped that his future husband would wouldn’t let Gran choose for him.
Making a mental note to ask Nev if they should or shouldn’t see each other’s tux before the wedding, Matt walked out of the restaurant he had eaten lunch at and shivered. It was getting cold so he put on his scarf and hugged his coat tightly while he started walking towards St.Mungo’s.
A few feet away from his workplace, however, everything went dark. He never saw the two men dressed in dark clothes follow him. He wasn’t an Auror like Nev with sharp reflexes and eyes behind his head. It had been a considerable amount of time since he had played Quidditch too (something he regretted deeply) so he was a bit rusty. Besides, they were in times of peace, he had no reason to really be looking above his shoulder, right?
With a well cast Stunning Spell, Matthew was completely knocked out.
One of the men looked around, making sure no one was around while the other grabbed Matt’s body, a smug look on his face. “Oh please, just get out of here already.” The other man, much more elegant, said in a calm voice.
The other man, rolled his eyes and Disapparated from his spot with Matt under his arm and the one who had spoken took out his wand, erasing any residual Magic that could have been left behind when he had Stunned the Medi-Wizard. He Disapparated too once he was sure that no one would be able to retrace him. The Ministry would have a really hard time to find the Mudblood. Well, anyone but the one who was meant to come and find him.
Rodolphus Lestrange smirked and made his way towards the room where, Matt was set up in. Alecto Carrows, Rodolphus’ partner in crime, was putting on the last finishes on Matt, giving a scary low laugh once he was done before they both left him in there. Waiting until the bloke was awake would be much better than starting to scare him now.
The room was tiny, cold and dark and in a corner a blanket had been laid while on the other one corner was set a simple bucket. Matt groaned and opened his eyes to find himself standing, all tied up with his arms above his head. His jacket, scarf and shirt were gone and all he was in was his trousers. He looked up to assess the situation and he decided to try get free of his bonds but it was no use. The rope tightened around his wrists and he winced. “Damn.. I’m gonna be late for dinner..” he said softly to himself, as his head dropped forward.
***********
Around two o’clock in the afternoon it became very clear to the Third Floor supervisor that something was wrong. Matthew had not showed up for work at all after lunch and he was mildly concerned. He grabbed a few parchment and started to write a few memos for various Departments. Maybe Matthew had been grabbed by a coworker in an emergency situation on his way up? It wasn’t the first time it would be happening. After receiving a few negative answered, he stroke his beard and groaned.
He hated to do this.
Writing an owl to Matthew’s boyfriend, he did hope nothing bad had happened to the Medi-Wizard.
Mr Longbottom,
I hope this owl finds you well. As Matthew’s supervisor, I find myself in a difficult position right now. It is nearly three o’clock in the afternoon and he has yet to show up after lunch. I searched the hospital and no one has seen him since he went out. Do you know where he is?
You can reach me at work, it is likely that I will be here until he is found.
Sincerely,
Robert McElrea Healer Supervisor, Potions and Plant Poisoning.
