Not asking for sexuality has been great. I know I used to put down Straight or Bisexual just cause I thought I had to and the latter just so I wasn't boxed in with one gender based on a split second decision I made while apping a character. Plus as I'm learning I naturally lean towards lesbian or asexual women when I have the freedom to choose and rarely do I ever actually play a straight char unless they're canonly straight but that's cause I struggle with m/f relationships cause I don't get males for the most part having always having a hard time connecting with them IRL and in pieces of fiction.
Like you I'm totally all for things that force games to become more progressive. As I was saying above if it's just to round out a cast list because you 'should' I have problems but if it's for any other reason like actually wanting to explore it i'm all for queer and poc being played in games.
Being comfortable in writing queer chars in games kind of makes the whole rp experience more interesting too just cause as you say you're not forced into playing someone a certain way.
