Re: questions 1 & 2, I really like that most/all of the games I've been in the last few years have stopped asking for sexuality on the application, which is a great departure from the sexuality caps I used to see a lot. As a queer woman I don't want to play a straight character simply because there's a cap and straight is the "default." If I play a straight character, it's going to be because I wrote a character and then decided they were straight.
I also like that there are a lot more lgbtq characters in the games I'm in, whether that's bc of the lack of sexuality caps or that there are more lgbtq players in games or whatever other reason, but I'm cool with it. It's somewhat forced a lot of the in-game worlds to be a bit more progressive, but... I'm cool with that too. I don't always want to explore the same struggles I had to deal with (or may have to deal with) irl. Sometimes I don't want to explore anything, I just want to play a character who happens to have the same sexuality as me. (Of course, sometimes I do want to explore things, but it depends on the character and the game and how I'm feeling at the time.)
