yeah i mean i don't doubt that people have good intentions, but in the end good intentions just aren't enough you know? i think the question that needs to be asked across the board wrt rp is whether or not you're a good candidate to tell the story you want to tell. do you have the capacity and time to research your character or is your ultimate goal just to explore relationships and have fun without having to think too much into every decision your character makes? are you able to accept concrit and change the way you write your character? are you able to maintain enough distance from your character to realize that while this is your character, your character represents actual real people who may be reading or interacting with your character?
this may be an unpopular opinion, but i think that diversity for diversity's sake (especially in rp where everything is player controlled) is more damaging than having an all white game with all white players. that isn't to say that nobody should play a poc unless they're willing to pour in hours of research, but as a community we should always be mindful of why we're interested in telling the stories we want to tell.
