Who: Laney and JJ What: meeting for the first time Where: a remote neighborhood TBA When: May, year TBA sometime after the WAR (also TBA)
It was a bright day. The sun was out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It was the kind of day one waited for, especially after a long winter. It was seemingly perfect weather. But, for a girl wearing what was left of her heavier clothes, it was getting too warm, too fast.
Laney wiped a line of sweat off her brow and dropped her backpack at her feet. She unzipped it in one swift motion and pulled out a lock picking set. She didn't like breaking windows. It seemed like a waste. She wasn't particularly mindful of things like that normally, but breaking windows when it was a possibility for a shelter for a night was just asking for trouble. Besides, anyone could smash in some glass and move about wherever they pleased. Laney liked a challenge.
She'd already knocked pretty hard on the door. The house, and all of it's neighbors looked abandoned. As far as she could tell, she was alone. Just the way she liked it. She bent down, eye to eye with the lock and started to pick. In just a minute, she'd be inside and out of the heat. Maybe, she'd even find some new, lighter clothes inside. She could only hope.
