It seemed that no matter what Daniela wanted, someone or something always stood in the way. There were plenty of times where this did not happen, of course, plenty of times where Daniela breezed through her day without hitting a single road block. But when she was standing in line waiting for a cup of tea after a long, grueling, and obnoxious shift on a ship where nothing remotely interesting ever happened, she couldn't remember the times when things had gone well. She could only focus and then dwell upon the misfortunes that had befallen her, beginning with her teenage pregnancy and escalating right on up to this moment.
When the woman in front of her, Sara Lynn Bradley, minister, started arguing with the girl behind the counter and turned around for confirmation that she was justified, Daniela jumped right in with, "Hell, no! That bitch has been on her phone since I walked in here." She rolled her eyes. "She's lucky I don't carry a gun," she muttered. "Tell him he's a prick and get off the phone already, Barbie. Some of us have real jobs to do."
