No, he really didn't get how frustrating it was, which was probably part of the problem; Rook knew he felt a little frustrated that Alex preferred to beat the crap out of him instead of actually talking to him, but he always reminded himself that eventually she would be ready to talk, and he just had to stick around and not push so that she still trusted him when that happened. And he knew it would; it had for him, so it would for her, even if it took a lot more years.
"There's nothing any of you can do to help, so why would I bother you with something you'll want to help with but not be able to?" he asked, rounding on Dax. It wasn't necessarily that he thought he was bothering his friends with his problems, because Rook was pretty sure it wouldn't bother them. But it might bother them that they couldn't help, and if talking about it wouldn't help him, and telling Dax wouldn't help his friend, then there was no point in it. Until he and Oberon formally broke up, it wasn't even that important an update either, so he was even less inclined to tell his friend or his sister. Besides which, regardless of how the fight turned out, Rook didn't want the looks of pity that came with arguing with or breaking up with a partner.
