She had to admit she was surprised that there was another round of courting so soon after the weekend's grave pronouncements. Still, she supposed it added a bit of normalcy to otherwise strange and unsettling events.
When she received word that Mr. Masters had arrived, she took one last check in the mirror, patted down her hair and straightened her dress -- her favorite deep rose. She sighed as a curled escaped despite attempts to pin it in. It was as well as it was ever going to be.
