Daisuke was at the bellows, firing the coals to finish work on a plowblade. It took him a moment to notice the new arrival in the smithy, and even when he did, he didn't stop right away. He waited until the coals glowed brightly enough to hold their heat a while, then stepped back, turned and faced Santiago, wiping his hands on his apron.
