Unlike Arran, Roger hadn't really had a very exhausting day. Yes, Astoria had turned into a child, but Daphne had mostly dealt with that, Roger only really chatting to the little girl over the journals and then when Daphne returned with Astoria late in the evening, Roger had cooked for both of them. Astoria really hadn't been any trouble at all and Daphne had set her up in the spare bedroom. Whilst she'd been busy reading a bedtime story to Astoria or whatever the fuck it was that people did to kids before putting them to sleep (Roger had been tended to by house elves), Roger had chatted away on the journals. This was normally fine, a great way to pass time. Except then it suddenly wasn't.
Roger's conversation with Tessa had been fun, or well, he'd thought it'd been fun until she'd told him that he had a girlfriend and then Roger had... well, mostly blind panicked because he didn't think he needed to be reminded that he had a girlfriend. He knew he did. Daphne, who was great. But then Roger had reread what him and Tessa had said to each other and he could sort of see why that might not be appropriate? But he hadn't meant it not to be! And now Roger didn't really know what to say to Tessa or Daphne, because did he owe Daphne an apology for... well, Roger wasn't sure what even for. Was it not okay to joke with other women if you were in a relationship? It wasn't like he meant anything by it.
By the time Daphne returned from having settled Astoria, Roger had managed to work himself up in enough confusion that he mostly just pushed his journal at Daphne. "What do I say?" He asked seriously and then frowned. "I don't plan to get fat," he added like that mattered at all. "But I'm sure you'd tolerate it." Not that Roger thought Daphne should but he did think she would.
