HARPIES TEST POSITIVE
Evelyn White-Wood
Right about now the managers of Holyhead Harpies are probably feeling pretty regretful for having submitted their players to the voluntary drug testing. It was announced this morning that four of the players have tested positive - three from the main team and one from the reserves.
With the Harpies next game not being until 15th April, the Department of Magical Games and Sports have not yet announced what the positive results will mean for the team and their position in the League. It has, however, raised the concern that more players might test positive in what the majority of media has started calling the BILQ-doping scandal.
What we want to know here at the Prophet sports news, is what will this mean for the future of League quidditch? Will compulsory testing be introduced? It seems likely when half a team has tested positive!
Everley Potts, one of the Harpies’ Beaters, when asked about her positive test results was very expressive in declaring: "This is bullshit. I've never taken a drug in my life, certainly not a performance enhancing one. I've never needed them. Look into my history and you'll see that I've always gone above and beyond to prove myself. Why the hell would I do anything that would damage my reputation, the reputation of my family, or the reputation of my team?"
It is not, perhaps, surprising that Ms Potts denies any involvement, but it does urge us to ask: what’s next in this doping scandal?
