It wasn't often that Roger went out to the pub in the evening with people who weren't Arran, but tonight had been someone's leaving drinks, so it was hardly like he could've objected. Not that Roger had wanted to object. Kathrine was lovely and was moving on to a different department within the Ministry, so most of everyone at the office had wanted to go out. Roger had ended up being the one to organise it, which at least meant that he got to pick the pub. They'd gone for a Muggle place in London, which had been pretty excellent, apart from the fact that apparating home wasn't really an option. So Roger had decided to walk, vastly overestimating how long the walk to Diagon Alley would end up being.
This was why by the time he got home it was already gone midnight and Roger tried to be quiet as he got in. He wasn't drunk, but probably on the merrier side of tipsy. As it turned out, Roger needn't to bother, since Daphne wasn't actually asleep. Instead, she was sat in their bed, propped up against pillows reading. "The amount of times I come home to you and a book is really quite impressive," Roger teased as he started to change, throwing his shirt towards the dirty clothes basket. "How's your evening been? Did you eat the leftovers from yesterday?" Because Roger had made enough for Daphne to have today, since he'd known he'd be going out and thus not around to cook dinner.
