There was something freeing about this new band, something that Sid was sure he'd never really experienced before. In the last one he'd been in, he'd just been there to play. There had been no collaborative nature about the thing, it was very much like people had their assigned roles and they stuck with them. Not so here. Here, when Sid had some sort of inspiration, he was actually confident and happy to show his fellow band members what he'd done, to offer it as something they could use. His opinions and thoughts were listened to and it was pretty great, actually.
This was how Sid had ended up at Marlene's, sitting in her living room with his guitar and the copy of the lyrics he'd scrawled in the new notebook he'd found with Jareth. He'd contacted Marlene straight away after he'd shown it to Andrew, had decided that once she had the vocals down, the song would be a lot easier to show to the rest of the band, a lot easier to pick up and learn.
He wasn't shy in giving his best impression of the melody, of rather poorly singing her a line at a time so that she could get the general gist of the melody, how the words fit, and actually make it something good rather than the shit way Sid was managing it. He could carry a tune, sure. But it didn't sound very pretty.
"I know I'm not great, but-- that's the general idea of the chorus. There's a harmony for it, to go with it, but any of us could pick that up with you," he told her.
