Who: Ginny Weasley and Adrian Pucey When: Sunday evening Where: The Three Broomsticks Rating: PG Warnings: Possible language? Summary: A first date of sorts
Ginny should have expected to come home to something like this. She'd been informed weeks ago that she had been drafted and the Ministry was in the process of finding her ideal match. And yet, when she walked in to see the owl waiting with another official letter for her in its beak, all she could do was stand there, staring at it. She knew exactly what it was, of course, if the envelope hadn't been enough of a giveaway, the fact that anything else would have been given to her before she left the Auror Office would have been. Knowing there was nothing to be done about it, she took the letter and opened.
Adrian Pucey it said. Ginny knew who he was - who didn't - but she didn't know him. He'd been a few years ahead of her in school and in Slytherin, and now he was a Quidditch star. Anything else she knew about him came from either magazine articles, sports columns, or office gossip and even then, it wasn't nearly enough. Not if she was going to potentially spend the rest of her life with him anyway. She had been reaching for her journal, thinking to send him a message - saying what she didn't know yet - when it chimed to let her know there was a new one waiting for her. Apparently, he'd seen his own letter and had the same idea. A couple of brief exchanges later and she was getting ready to go back out, this time to the Three Broomsticks.
She didn't bother with getting too dressed up, opting instead to simply freshen her make-up, run a brush through her hair, and slip into a pair of jeans and one of her favorite jumpers before Apparating from her flat to just outside the pub. Eager to get inside where it was warmer, Ginny quickly pushed the door open and tugged it shut behind her. Flashing a bright smile at Madame Rosmerta, she scanned the large room and was mildly surprised to see that Adrian had beaten her there. Moving towards him, another smile, a little smaller this time, formed on her lips. "Is this seat taken?"
