In case anyone was wondering; which I doubt you were; the weirdest thing about getting a broken jaw unwired is getting used to chewing and speaking again. The doctor gave me some exercise to do to help make my jaw feel less tight, but I feel really silly doing them. I apologize to anyone in Forensics who thought I was making faces when I got back from my appointment, I swear those were not aimed at anyone in particular.

Also, I think my body grew way too used to the liquid diet, since despite my best efforts I haven't been able to eat anything substantial even though I've still been cooking like a maniac. It's all good, I needed to lose like five more pounds anyway.

I haven't been paying much attention to the announcements of what's been found in the mass grave, though not for lack of trying. Just, my trainer David has been having me working on this case out in North Vinter involving missing items, and I've been exhausting myself trying to work through all the possibilities. If this is what being a full-fledged employee is like then I definitely want more, because I haven't worked this hard in ages. David's a really good trainer, I'm learning a lot working with him, and I'm sure between the two of us we can crack this case wide open.

It's Mother's Day back home, but when I went to call my mum I got no answer. Maybe dad took her somewhere... I'm gonna try again later just in case, but it seems a little weird that she wouldn't be answering her cell phone.

In case anyone was wondering, forensic tests done on the bomb threat note yielded absolutely nothing useful, not even the type of printer they came from. I've never seen that kind of result before, it's almost unheard of to have a sample so clean that you can't even find a shred of evidence on it. It's freaky.

You know, I've only been here since the beginning of the month, but I've already learned a lot of things I didn't know before. Mainly, that people here don't take as kindly to those of us who're different as I was led to believe, and let me tell you that was a real eye-opener.

So... is it weird that after the bomb threat was all taken care of I went back to my room and Google'd common bomb ingredients so I'd know how to recognize those scents just in case? I mean, ever since those notes were posted everywhere, I doubt I'm the only one who's been jumping at shadows getting suspicious whenever there's some smell I don't recognize in the air, or I see some person who looks shifty poking around. It's all about constant vigilance, right? But not to the point of paranoia, because that won't help anyone. And if there's one thing I can say for certain, it's that nobody wants to be the one who ends up missing something important and letting whoever's behind all the arson and threats get away with it. Some of you might know this, most of you probably don't, but the 28th is the six-year anniversary of my mothers' passing. It's a pretty tough day for me in general -- actually, most of March tends to suck for me -- especially because it was also her birthday. So, that being said, I'm not going to be in work tomorrow or Friday, but I was thinking of having a little gathering tomorrow evening to help me stop feeling sorry for myself over missing my mom.

I'll be making all her favorite classic New Awlins foods and watching all her favorite movies, so if anyone wants to join me and wouldn't be put off by the fact that I might be a bit maudlin then let me know. And if not that's cool too. I just figured as my friends you might want to know why I've been weird/will be weird.

Is anyone else looking forward to the new season of Game of Thrones starting on the 31st? I've been flipping out, re-watching the first two seasons so I'm ready. I'm considering having a viewing party for the first episode of the season if anyone is interested, I even went and ordered some GoT schwag. I got these awesome GoT figurines and some Baratheon and Stark pint glasses. However, nothing has proven to be a more fantastic find than the Youtube series School of Thrones. It's so worth the views. 'Prom Night is dark, and full of terrors' might just be the most fantastic quote ever.

In other news, I really need to stop baking so much when I'm upsetbored, because I currently have way more brownie cupcakes than I know what to do with. The peanut butter frosting is downright addictive, too. I can't eat these all by myself, people, so if anyone wants any I can make up a bag for you. I've also got chocolate chip peanut butter cookies, and leftover chicken alfredo from last nights' dinner because I made way too much. Maybe I should just offer cooking lessons so al this creativity can be put to good use... anyway, all the food is free to a good home, so don't be shy.
