She knew exactly of the girl her son was talking about. She had heard her husband and Draco complain about the little witch for as long as he went to Hogwarts. She knew her son had always done his very best at Hogwarts and from what she understood was that this Hermione girl didn't have much of a life outside of all her books. Her son had a very respectable social life at his school, very well balanced. Narcissa was always there to coddle and stand up for Draco when she knew Lucius was being too hard on his heir, but she knew in her husbands heart he just wanted the best of everything for his son.
She looked at her son, stunned. She was not expecting this. Narcissa thought her son hated the Hermione girl as much as he hated Potter. She guessed it was only natural now that one Draco liked Harry, he could also like Hermione. Living in this place was certainly giving her family a change of hearts in a number of ways. It's still stunning and hard to believe when they had all grown up to believe one way and in a few weeks don't hold as much stalk in it anymore. "Well, I'm glad you have a friend here, Draco and that you're over not being first at school. I always hoped you wouldn't let that get in the way. It's how you get complexes you know," she said pointedly.
