WHO: Brooke and Damon; sadisticdamon WHEN: Late Monday night WHERE: Their house WHAT: Brooke tries to apologise RATING: High STATUS: Complete
Brooke didn't know how she was going to say what she needed to say, or how Damon was going to take it. She felt terrible. It was almost as bad as the aftermauth of the Chris Keller incident...except this time she could end up dead. She just hoped he still cared about her enough to make it quick.
She let herself into the house they shared, well aware that there could possibly be two angry vampires and one angry hybrid waiting for her. But she had to do this. She had made the mistake so she had to face the consequences. Quietly she shut the door behind her before calling out, "Damon?"
Damon walked out from the kitchen, drink in hand, looking at her. "Came to tell me in person what a awful son of a bitch I am?"
Brooke's eyebrows drew together when she saw Damon. Her Damon. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes and she shook her head, partly in answer to his question and partly to clear her mind. "I need to tell you something," she said in a small voice, her head still pounding with the after-effects of so much alcohol that afternoon.
"I think you told me enough, I get it, I'm a heartless bastard and I hurt you, I got it, thanks." He turned and started walking off, she smelled like booze and...him, kind of, but different.
"Please, Damon," she called after him, taking a little step in his direction. "Please... Oh god.." She could feel the tears rolling down her cheeks and there was nothing she could do to stop them. "I slept with someone else..." she blurted, unable to hold it in any longer.
He stopped dead in his tracks, his body shaking with rage and anger. "YOU DID WHAT!?" hee asked, turning and looking at her. He was unable to stop his anger, his fist went flying against thee wall. He knew she shouldn't be around him right now. How could she do that to him? "Get away from me, Brooke... Leave, now, GO!" he yelled.
Brooke could see the change in his body language, even before he punched the wall. She jumped at the impact as it reverberated through the walls and floor. She looked down, shutting her eyes, and shook her head. If he was going to hurt her, so be it. He'd done it before and she actually deserved it this time. "I'm sorry," she managed to choke out, slowly opening her eyes to looked up at him through streaming mascara.
"Get out!" he growled, not wanting to hurt her, he was so fucking angry. "How could you? You give me shit, say I should go fuck someone and then you go out and fuck someone? Who was it? So I can rip their fucking throat out."
"I know, I know," she moaned, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I was just... I was drunk and I was so angry at you." She bit her lip, watching him. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen him this angry before. It scared her, but she wasn't going to leave. She'd said she was going to face this, and she would. She had to face the consequences. "It doesn't matter who it was," she told him, her voice thick. "It didn't mean anything. I just want you..."
"What do you want? Me to feel sorry? And like shit for everything I did to you? And then you what? Use me? Go fuck some dude? Get out of here, now, Brooke, NOW!" he growled, backing away from her. "I can't look at you right now."
"It wasn't like that!" Brooke cried, stepping towards him again as he backed away. "I was never using you. Haven't you ever made a mistake, Damon?" She knew, of course, that he had made plenty of mistakes, probably some even she didn't know about, but it didn't make her feel any better about what she'd done. "I'll go," she told him, watery hazel eyes fixed on him. "But I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry and I love you..."
Did she really just say that? Did she just make him feel like shit for being a vampire? And then, hours later fucking cheat on him...then say she loved him? "Funny way of showing it, you never loved me before, I'd say it, over and over, and nothing. But, what? You fucked around with some human and know that you can't be satisfied anymore by them, so you love me?" he asked.
Brooke had been being so careful with her emotions. It was his fault. He'd made her distrust her own feelings right from the beginning. She hadn't understood how she could love him after what he'd done to her, but she knew now that she did. His words caught her off-guard, however. Her mouth dropped open a little before she closed it again. "It wasn't a human..." she said weakly. He was getting completely the wrong idea of her motives, not that it really made a difference.
He needed to get out of there before he lost it and killed her. He grabbed his keys and moved past her, heading out the door.
Brooke turned as Damon moved past her, thankfully not moving so fast that she couldn't see him. "Please, Damon... wait!" She reached out and caught his hand, trying to tug him around to face her. She knew she was treading on dangerous ground here, but she didn't really care much any more.
He shoved her hand away from him, glaring daggers at her. "Don't touch me!" he growled. "I'm going to rip someone to shreads cause I'm a horrible fucking person!" And with that, he walked out and slammed the door, his puppy whimpering at Brooke's feet.
Brooke sank to the floor and reached out to the distressed Piper who clambered onto her and started nudging at her mascara-stained cheeks. Brooke cuddled the little puppy close and cried uncontrollably into her fur. She'd really gone and messed it up this time.
