Lissa was glad that Christian was here, lately, she'd been feeling... odd, sometimes almost depressed but not quite. She wasn't sure if it was being in a strange place that caused it and she really hoped that having her husband here--and thank God he remembered marrying her--would help her feel better. In a way, it did. She sat on their new bed and gave him a soft smile. "It's so good to see you," she said, taking his hand. She bit down gently on her lip. "I haven't taken a test since I was back at Court, I think I was afraid of finding out I was pregnant without you being here to support me." She paused. They'd talked about having children, of course. It shouldn't make her nervous to tell him she wanted to take a test now. "I bought one after I found out you were here... I think I should take it and find out."
Christian had grown up a lot since Lissa had become Queen. He had always had a special place in his heart for Jill, and having her killed in front of them had sobered him even more. He was ready for the future with his wife, but even being as ready as he was... he was scared to death of being a father. Of messing up. However, they had discussed this, and he would be strong for his wife. "I think that's a good idea... I can wait here for you if you want," he said, squeezing her hand, then kissing her cheek.
Lissa smiled softly. A year ago, she would have never guessed that they would be in this position so soon, but she felt confident in their decision, even if it was sooner than they thought it would be. She knew she wanted a family and she wanted it to be with Christian, so moving things along faster still seemed okay. However, it still made her nervous. They were only eighteen. Were they ready to be parents? She let out a breath and nodded. "I'll be right back." She left to go to the bathroom and followed the instructions on the test. She came back and told him how long it would be.
Christian was nervously tapping his foot when she came back in. At her words, he simply nodded and watched her, the knot in his stomach tightening. He had a feeling this would be it- that their fates would be sealed tonight. When the time was up, he gave her an uneasy smile. "It's time," he said softly.
After telling hime the time, Lissa took to pacing back and forth in front of the bed. She hadn't even realized how much time had passed until Christian told her it was time. She looked at the clock and realized it had actually been a few minutes. She walked over to him and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before returning to the bathroom to look at the strip. She returned to the bedroom, biting her lip gently. "It's positive," she told him after what seemed like a long pause, when in reality it probably wasn't that long at all.
Christian felt like an eternity had passed before she came out, and even longer before she told him. And when he heard the result, he was on his feet immediately. Instead of the dread he thought would overcome him at this moment, he felt... elated. He beamed and picked her up in a hug, turning her around in his arms. "Oh Lissa!" he exlaimed, setting her back down and giving her a hard kiss on the lips.
Lissa had sort of gone into a sort of shock after looking at the strip. Christian's reaction brought her out of it, his excitement contageous. She smiled brightly as he picked her up and when he set her down and kissed her, she kissed him back. After she pulled back, she gave him another smile. "We did it," she said finally. Provided that we can keep the baby safe, the Dragomirs get another generation."
"That baby is going to be the safest child in the world, with all of the Roses, Dimitris, Adrians... hell, even the other mes will want to protect that baby!" he said happily, kissing her again. "Are you going to tell Jill?" The subject of her sister was still a raw one, but he really wanted them to get along.
Lissa laughed softly. He had a point. As long as they were stranded here, there would be a lot of people around to protect her and the baby. At home they would even be well protected. They could do this. She kissed him back once more, but frowned when he mentioned Jill. She wasn't as jealous of Jill as she used to be--she knew well now that it was her Christian wanted and no one else--but Jill stood for things Lissa didn't want to accept. Like her father's infidelity. She frowned. "I don't know," she said finally. "I want to tell Rose first."
